Footprints In The Sand
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of
his life, there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him, and he
questioned the LORD about it:
“LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you’d walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why when
I needed you most; you would leave me.”
The LORD replied:
“My son, my precious child,
I love you, and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.”

This poem goes right back to my childhood. It was on my grandmother’s dressing table, God Rest Her Soul, and I would read it every time I stayed at hers.
There’s a reason for everything, and I don’t believe it was by chance that this particular poem was present in my childhood. Every time things got tough, it would pop up in my mind, calm me down, and put everything in perspective.
This is the message I took from it and held onto throughout my life, and I wanted to share it with beautiful you.
When you’re going through challenging times, if you’re not aware of how your mind works, it will put you in an even worse state of panic. That’s basically how it functions if you leave it up to its own devices: putting you in a state of unease.
But once you are in charge of your life, start Loving Yourself and controlling and directing your mind; you are playing a different game. You’ll realise that there is always a reason for challenging times. Challenging times are a sign for change and new beginnings, God Willing.
You’ll also recognise that there is never any reason to fear; you are never alone; your Creator is carrying you every step of the way. Your Creator is closer to you than your jugular vein; everything becomes simple and easy when you know this. You are in the best of hands.
My experiences in life have taught me that I was never alone; God Almighty was always and is always by my side. So I stopped believing my mind, integrated new positive thoughts, and if challenges come up on my path, I know I’m safe and secure because my Creator is carrying me. So, I affirm that all is well, and I ask myself the following two questions?
What do I need to learn?
What changes do I need to make?
I have being comfortable with the fact that everything unravels when and how it should without my interference.
