How To Simplify Your Life
Facts Of Life
Simplicity = Happiness and Inner Peace
Complicated and Complex = Unhappiness and unease.
The more you simplify your life, the happier and more content you’ll be.
The more complicated and complex your life, the unhappier and dissatisfied your experience.
Part of really Loving Yourself is decluttering your life in every sense.
A complicated, cluttered, and complex experience no longer suits or brings you joy.
A simpler way of living sparks more satisfaction and comfort.
But where do you start?
How do you turn a problematic, busy existence into a peaceful and straightforward one?
How do you turn a hurricane into a cool breeze?
This article and Youtube video discuss two ways to start simplifying your life: Let’s begin!
1. Simplify Your Thoughts
Your thoughts create your reality: it’s that simple.
Everything goes back to your thoughts, which makes life very simple because you always know what to go back to and change if things aren’t unraveling the way you want.
Too many complicated, scattered, and undirected thoughts create a very complicated and tiresome existence.
Start getting into the habit of simplifying your thoughts.
Strip off the story and get into the practice of seeing what is.
Let’s say there’s a cup of coffee on the table.
The thought, ‘There’s a cup of coffee on the table’ doesn’t create any unwanted negative emotions or anxiety; you are simply stating ‘What is.’
Which feels very comfortable: the truth always brings about a sense of ease.
Here’s where things get complicated: you add a story or stories to what is.
‘There’s a cup of coffee on the table. What if it drops on the carpet, and then I’m stuck with a stain. It doesn’t look very nice. I don’t like that cup it reminds me of … etc.’
You get my point!
‘What is’ rarely brings discomfort: the stories we add to ‘what is’ complicate life and create unnecessary turmoil.
Let’s look at another example.
Let’s say you are at a party and someone says an unpleasant comment, for example, ‘you don’t look very nice,’
If you want to simplify life, you focus on ‘What is.’
‘What is’ = Somebody gave their opinion, it doesn’t mean that it’s true, it’s simply an opinion no more and no less.
Things get complicated when you start adding a story:
‘I knew she never liked me… what if everybody else thinks the same… or maybe she’s jealous… Nobody likes me… I’m so unlucky etc.’
A Simple life = Simple thoughts
Start getting used to looking at and being comfortable with ‘What is’; and not adding a story.
2. Simplify Your Surroundings.
Really try to declutter your surroundings. Have what you need and what you use ONLY. The more clutter you have in your house, the more complicated and overwhelmed you’ll feel. Also, the harder it is to get things done.
Start simplifying your life by getting rid of unnecessary clutter. I promise you’ll find your days will feel lighter, more manageable, and sunnier.
