Three Tips To Start Loving The Way You Look.

For some reason, we live in a time where most people want to look like everybody else but themselves. At the heart of ‘The Love Yourself Movement’ is the importance of falling in love with yourself, including your looks.

In this article, I will discuss three ways to start loving how you look today.

Tip 1 — Understand Your Mind

Like I’ve said before, and I will say it repeatedly, the mind is a miracle if you control and direct it. However, it is dysfunctional in nature if not directed. For example, I found that the mind will always try to find faults with your looks, no matter how old or what size you are. You could go through a whole precious lifetime not Loving Yourself due to the mind’s constant criticism.

What do you do?

The first thing to acknowledge is that God Almighty created all of us; we are all beautiful in our unique way. There isn’t one human being that isn’t beautiful. Here’s what differentiates us: whether we feel beautiful or not.

We are all beautiful; some of us choose to feel beautiful while others believe their minds and do not feel the beauty they were born with.

The solution

  • Intend to change.
  • Intend to love, honour and respect your looks today.
  • If negative thoughts come to you, observe them and let them pass. Get into the habit of not believing them or interacting with them. Then start using positive affirmations to replace them and accept them instead. Begin to allow yourself to feel the beauty you already have again.

Positive Affirmations

  • I Love, Honour and Respect Myself.
  • I Love My Body.
  • My body works very hard for me.
  • I am beautiful.
  • I am proud to be me.
  • I am blessed with my looks
  • I love myself.
  • I am so grateful for the way God Almighty created me.

Tip 2 — Be Proud To Be You

Different cultures have their own version of what beauty is. So do different trends. Some cultures believe that big is beautiful; others believe that small is. Some trends encourage high cheekbones, big bums, etc. The list goes on and on. Basically, cultural versions of beauty and trends come from a few people that decided that a particular way of looking was beautiful, and everybody went along with their beliefs.

I refuse to do that. My life is too precious to spend worrying or trying to change myself to fit into what a few have decided is beautiful.

Tip 2 is really all about falling in love with being you. Your life is too precious to spend it following other people’s beliefs on beauty. You are beautiful; we all are. It’s simply time to own it!

Tip 3 — Feel Beautiful

As said in Tip 1, we are all beautiful. But, we need to start feeling it. So, I advise my clients to get to know themselves and experiment with what feels good.

  • What foods help you feel more vibrant and healthy?
  • What clothes, colours, and textures feel good?
  • What activities feel good? Maybe swimming, yoga or walking?

Beauty is all about feeling good; start finding the things that feel good to you and start integrating them into your life, God Willing. Try to incorporate one new feel-good thing a week, and keep up with those positive affirmations, and you’ll start to feel what you already are: Beautiful!
